The Camping Craze

Need to Unwind? – Spend a night in a tipi!

Just try to find a camping spot at a state park! After the pandemic and staying home month after month, people couldn’t wait to get outside – and they all wanted to go camping. Getting back to nature is one of the joys of camping and being away from all the lights of the city is scary and magical at the same time.

At first you look for a street light or think you need a flashlight to walk anywhere at night. But most of the time, you don’t. If you stay outside and don’t look at any lights, the pupil of your eye will gradually open wide and you will be able to see the path and many other things. Look up. Stars, everywhere, millions of them, maybe you will even see the milky way.

Don’t look at any lights or even turn on a flashlight. If you do, your eyes will immediately close down to protect them and you’ll have to wait for them to open up again. As you are looking at the canopy of millions of stars, you are experiencing the same sky the Indians enjoyed every night.

There are only a few places in Ohio where you can spend a night in a Tipi. One of those places is Tipi Village at Earth Song Farm. Spending a night in an authentic Indian Tipi is magical and there are three Tipis available to rent here.

Two have a queen size rustic log bed and can sleep 5-6 with additional cots available. One Tipi is for those who want a more authentic experience with a waterproof mat over wood chips. Perfect for rolling out a sleeping bag. There is a shared fire-pit with plenty of firewood and a large shared cooking/eating area.
