I Had a Dream
Several times a week I have a powerful dream. I lay awake thinking about what God is trying to
tell me as the sky starts to brighten.
Last night’s dream had me sitting with a High School
teacher and about a dozen juniors and seniors. We were sitting on the ground discussing test
scores – ACT, SAT, Grade point averages, Class ranking, etc.
I told the students “none of these
matter”! Some were angry, some were dismayed, some were relieved. The teacher who had administered
these tests and figured all the grade point averages looked at me in disbelief.
As I laid there in the dark an hour ago, I realized that God wants me to address the parents of
kids who are in public schools. Many of you have sensed I am an advocate for homeschooling. But
my involvement in “the system” was intense. After a year of general studies at KSU, I studied
Architecture for 3 years, Industrial Arts Education for 2 years and was a graduate assistant
teaching “design”. I then taught at Medina HS for 4 years.
Although most teachers love their students, they are working in a system that has other, often
hidden, agendas. It is based on a flawed idea that, at it’s core, hasn’t changed in 150 years.
I’m not sure what God wants me to say yet, but He said have a special day for kids who are in
“the system”. So I am announcing a day for you – October 8th. This Sunday event will include a
discussion at 2pm about how to be the best parent for whatever age kids you have.
I understand
that many can’t homeschool. This is not bashing, this is about encouragement. This is not about
religion or any hidden agenda. Join me and lots of other parents as we polish our skills on the
greatest of challenges – raising kids to be successful and happy adults!
